The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says one in five visits to US emergency rooms involve seniors 60 years and older.<br />Also, 7% of patients in hospital ERs come from nursing homes.<br />From 2014 through 2017, people 90 and older accounted for the bulk of ER visits among older adults.<br />While the most recent data is from 2017, the findings outline the overall health among those living in nursing homes.<br />It's an issue that has received increased attention as many of these facilities worldwide have been ravaged by the COVID-19 pandemic.
